Lei ho 2

OK, so this was HK for the days I was there. Sorry, folks. No good photos. I was told that the day I left, the sun came out. And coming back into Singapore, I brought the rain there too!

The filming indoors for the de la Salle project, on the other hand, turned out great! A lot of events during the time I was there and thus a lot of footage captured for the documentary all thanks to you know Who! The greatest part is that because all footage is real, no mock-ups or make-believe shorts were needed.

Lei ho

This past weekend, I celebrated Mass in Cantonese. Was my second time ever. First was when I was 11. And back then, the only thing I probably understood was the response at Communion. Now, a little better. Well it ought to be. Not that I understand the language completely, but with the English translated booklet in front of me, I knew I wasn't going to get lost.

I am always thrilled at celebrating the Mass in a foreign country. This affirms me in volumes of my universal faith that is practiced worldwide. It reminds me of a larger world, and that I have to get out there every once in awhile to be reminded of this perspective. Singapore is far too small. In fact, this is an image I took leaving the country.

I could see the entire Singapore without having to pan my eyes! It's one thing to view the entire island-state in Google Maps, but to actually see it whole in the physical world... that was definitely a sight!

Say "lift"!

Not your typical everyday bridal shot!

Last weekend, not only was I photographer, I filmed and emceed at a wedding reception. Fortunately for me, I had 2 back-up photographers. Thank you! What I did was a feat in itself and these were the exact lines I used in my script. It was a fun-filled day, but just as exhausting. I returned home after that Saturday evening real beat only to realise that my work had only just begun. :O) More typical wedding photos in the darkroom.

The Sound of Music

Music never sounded better! This is always the case on the Octave of Easter. You see, during Lent, I always yank out my vehicle stereo system and deprive myself from even the news! :p The first big frequencies of sound I ever here after 6 weeks of Lent would be the combined choir at Easter Vigil. That is always a treat! Following after that, would be anything from Cold Play to Kelly Clarkson to Symphony FM to the International channel (68.3FM).

Everything sounds crisp and fresh! La dida Vida da da...

Service of the Light

For those who have no clue what's going on every year when it happens at the beginning of the Easter Vigil, enjoy this up-close and personal clip...

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

Good Friday

The youth at Holy Family have been working on a wall mural project titled Via Dolorosa. I'm inspired by their dedication and excitement! If it wasn't for the freak storms and scattered showers in the past five weeks, we would have been able to complete this before today. But completing it by today is not as important as what's actually happening this Triduum celebration over the long weekend with Mass of the Lord's last supper (Thurs), the celebration of the Lord's Passion (today), and the Easter Vigil (tomorrow)! The drama climaxes and is as good as it gets! :O)

From today till tomorrow evening, nothing else is celebrated at Church. A strange sense of quietness... but in anticipation of what lies ahead. 33, the age you died for me.

For now, it's just to wait for the 3 o'clock sky to turn dark... amazing re-living every single year!

Road Trip

On April 1st, a team of catechists invited me to join them for a road trip to Malacca. I prepared a short tour and two movie screenings, Chocolat and Stolen Summer to engage them in a Lenten reflection but guess what? The Video player didn't accept code 1 DVDs! What a shame... another time perhaps.

The day was hot but fluffy white clouds accompanied our brief tour of the old town. Our first pit stop was to St Francis Xavier Church and to our surprise, the kind sacristan opened up the museum at our request which houses the relics of St Francis Xavier. Other items on the menu - Chicken Rice Balls and Durian Cendol. Yum, yum!

Something to note: Wednesdays seem like off days in Malacca. Can someone verify this? Many stalls and shops are closed. The town seems to have more things going on in the evenings.

Google this 2

Today I made it to Google! Praise God!

Spent half the day shooting the staff in various full-bodied poses for an acrylic panel in the new extension wing. Everyone had fun! And WOW, what a splendid view! (I know I keep saying this a lot!) I appreciate this because I stare at the computer screen quite a bit each day. Always good to look over at a distance every now and then - something that Imaginative does not have the privilege of. 8-)

And as usual, the pantry was left to my disposal. :p
